For Carvell Health Services, who pays for these services?
  • Carvell works with various state programs to help offset the costs of the non-medical services we offer. We participate with many Office of Long Term Living (OLTL) waiver programs.
    • Carvell partners with Pennsylvania through their Medicaid Waiver program.
      • PA Aging Waiver: This program provides home and community based services (HCBS) to seniors (age 60 and over) who require nursing facility care and elect to receive care in their own homes or in other community living arrangements. The program is also known as the PA Council of Aging Waiver, the PDA Waiver, and the Office of Long Term Living (OLTL) Waiver or the Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) http://www.dhs.pa.gov/citizens/alternativestonursinghomes/agingwaiver/
      • Attendant Care/ Act 150 – This program provides home and community based services (HCBS) to individuals between the age of 18 to 59 that require assistance to complete functions of daily living, self-care and mobility.
    • Carvell also works with Pennsylvania’s Options Program, which provides both assessments and services. To apply for these funds, the program conducts a comprehensive assessment of the applicant’s health and physical abilities and then presents funding options based on the patients’ financial situation and care needs. Pennsylvania’s Options Program also supports local Area Agencies on Aging (AAA), with which Carvell partners in Philadelphia, Montgomery County and Bucks County, offering additional financial support mechanisms for home health services.
  • Private pay (individual paid i.e. not through insurance or state programs) is another option we are happy to facilitate. We provide customized quotes for services focused on individualizing the care and services needed. Many of our clients decide to supplement the above-mentioned state-assisted programs with private pay services.
